[edit] Information

Griffs Great Britain: Series-1 Griff Rhys Jones sets out to explore eight very disparate kinds of quintessentially British terrain, investigating how they have dictated different ways of living, working and playing - both in the past and as they are now - across the entire country, while also unearthing quirky and funny facts en route.

[edit] Downs

He begins by heading to the South Downs, which are situated in Hampshire and East and West Sussex, taking to the air for a bird's eye view and attempting to get to know one of the region's woolliest inhabitants.

[edit] Estuaries

Griff Rhys Jones explores the picturesque estuaries of Suffolk and Essex in the second leg of his journey through the British landscape. Amongst his challenges are attempting to eat a `Colchester Native', helping to build a replica of the Mayflower and enjoying the beauty of Constable Country.

[edit] Highlands

Griff explores the Highlands as he goes in search of Britain's second-largest bird of prey, travelling through the scenic and ancient landscape by a variety of means - but will he be able to track down the elusive golden eagle?

[edit] Dartmoor

Griff explores the pleasures and perils of Dartmoor National Park - the largest and wildest area of open country in the south of England. He discovers it is home to ancient woodlands, high granite tors and vast tracts of rolling moorland, as well as churches, cream teas, llamas and legends.

[edit] Coast

Griff Rhys Jones explores the North Yorkshire coastline as he investigates the nation's passion for being beside the sea, beginning in the historic town of Scarborough and travelling to the port of Whitby - where he goes on a ghostly adventure.

[edit] Lakes

Griff Rhys Jones explores the dramatic and beautiful landscape of the Lake District. Along the way he meets the man who made the world's longest Cumberland sausage, attempts to speed along the steepest road in Britain, crosses the Infinity Bridge and tries to break the record for the slowest water ski in history.

[edit] Wolds

In this Episode, Griff explores the Cotswolds and finds stunning landscapes and butterscotch-coloured villages, as well as many fetes, fairs and country shows. With gardens galore, Griff is spoilt for choice as he attempts his latest challenge.

[edit] Borders

Griff explores the Shropshire countryside along the border between England and Wales, taking to the air to survey the landscape in all its glory. He then embarks on his final challenge, which takes him from Ludlow to the engineering marvel that is Chirk Aqueduct and on to Church Stretton and the Llangollen Canal.
