[edit] Information

This film traces the origins and rapid rise to fame of Rafaello di Giovanni Santi (1483-1520), one of the most precociously talented artists of the Italian Renaissance and follows his remarkable artistic journey from Urbino, where he was born, to the papal court in Rome.

The film features new footage shot on location in Siena, Florence, Rome and the Vatican.

This film examines the artist's stylistic evolution through numerous world-renowned works, including the Holy Family with the Lamb from Madrid, the Alba Madonna from Washington and culminating in the Vatican Stanze, Raphael's beautiful series of frescoes painted for the papal apartments of Julius II.
